While James sets up the Sub Phatty analog synthesizer in the control room, producer Tom Dobrzanski puts the finishing touches on a vocal edit from yesterday’s takes. As they ease into the recording session, Clayton sits down at the piano and works on new lyrics. He belts out vocal lines accompanied by heavy, rhythmic chords.
Within minutes, the vocal edits are complete. James and Tom explore what the Sub Phatty has to offer: a barrage of deep, rich, swelling, pulsating bass tones, and a very responsive, fun interface.
After a stint of sound exploration, they put aside the synthesizer. Clayton steps into the vocal booth to record the album’s ballad.
