Day 5: Oceanographers at Monarch Studios

To start the morning, Clayton and James discuss their plan of attack and lay out the order they will record their respective parts. After 4 studio days, there is a few rhythm and lead parts left to record, plus some organ and piano parts, before moving onto vocals. Clayton has been riffing on the Rhodes in the control room, tweaking and refining his tone with a distortion pedal. James is eager to record lead guitar on a specific song, but it will needs rhythm guitars first. At Monarch Studios, it is easy to change course as inspiration strikes, with several recording stations set up at all times. Clayton, perhaps sensing James’ excitement, jumps on the guitar. Before long, James will have his shot at the lead.
